Vintage Russian Imperial Era Openwork Diamond Pendant in Russian Revival Style of the 1910s (Neo-Russian Moderne)

Some unique jewelry, influenced by medieval Russo-Byzantine tradition, was produced in Moscow in the period right before and during the World War I - c.1908-1917.  Russian medieval designs and shapes were mixed with typical Belle Epoque forms and elements, what resulted in a unique Russian jewelry style not seen anywhere else.

This elegant diamond pendant is an excellent example of the Russian revival style of the 1910s.  It was not a predominant style of the period, and very few jewelers made pieces in that style (primarily in Moscow). Russian Revival jewels were intended for a refined Moscow and St Petersburg Russophil clientele and were never mass produced. Most pieces are one of a kind. They rarely appear on the market today.

10 Old European cut diamonds, with an approximate total weight of 1,07 ct., are set in silver over 14K gold.

A very finely crafted piece, by one of the best jewelry firms of the period, which produced jewels of exclusive designs - the 2nd Moscow Jewelers' Artel (artel - partnership).

The frame is marked with 56 zolotniks standard (14K - 583) / 1908-1917 Moscow assay office, and maker's mark (2) АЮ for the 2nd Jewelers' Artel.
