Large gold egg pendant, circa 1880, the polished body enameled en plein with image of Christ, marked with workmaster's initials 'SA' for Samuel Arndt and St. Petersburg assay mark. Height 1 in. (2,5 cm). Diameter 5/8 in. (1,5 cm)
Samuel Arndt (1812-1890), a prominent St. Petersburg jeweler, worked for the firm of "Nichols and Plinke", supplied objects for the Imperial court. Pictorial eggs are extremely rare especially of that size.

Gold egg pendant, St. Petersburg, circa 1890, with samorodok (gold nugget) finish, applied with a three-leaf flower set with sapphires, stamped on rings with 56 gold standard (14K), pre-1896 St.Petersburg assay mark, and master's initials. The workmaster's mark is struck a bit off the ring and therefore only partially visible. Height 6/8 in. (1,8 cm).
