Massive silver award badge of the Russian Imperial Firefighters Society, St Petersburg, 1916-1917, workmaster's initials in Cyrillic LZ. Oval crowned wreath with applied monograms in old Slavonic style: 'BA' - for Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich (son of Alexander II, 1847-1909), honorary chairman of the society, and gilt 'M' - for his wife Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna (1854-1920), who became the patron of the society after the death of her husband; also decorated with two crossed axes and firefighters' helmet with Imperial eagle. Abbreviation of the society on the ribbon below the helmet. Height 2 1/2 in. (6,4 cm).

Silver-gilt and guilloche enamel graduation badge of  St.Petersburg University by Carl Bock,  St.Petersburg, 1899-1904, marked with 88 standard and master's initials, the back plate engraved with owner's name, abbreviation of the university, and date 'November 27,  1907'. Height 2 9/16 in. (6,5 cm). The case is stamped with the maker's name in Cyrillic "C.Bock" under Imperial warrant, and St.Petersburg and Moscow addresses of the firm. The badge is in mint condition.

Usually, university badges were made with white opaque enamel. This particular piece has beautiful oyster-white guilloche enamel, almost certainly a special order badge. Original cases are also very rare.

Graduation badge of the Academy of Music of the Imperial Russian Musical Society, 1916-1917, struck  with  workmaster's initials of Varvara Dietwald and EDUARD in full, St Petersburg assay mark. Multi-piece silver wreath applied with silver-gilt Imperial eagle and a lyre. The lyre applied with a silver theatrical mask and a music scroll. Letter 'K' in the lower part of the lyre stands for Conservatoire. Height 2 1/8 in. (5,5 cm).
