Rare porcelain cup and saucer from the Dacha service of the Peterhof palace, made at the Imperial Porcelain Factory in the 1840s for the heir to the throne Grand Duke Alexander Nikolaevich (later czar Alexander II) and his wife Maria Alexandrovna.

Painted in gold with conjoined monogram "AM" accented with sprays of flowers under the Imperial crown.

Originally, the service was designed for 12, it comprised 56 pieces. Later it was expanded to 308 pieces and it included dinner and tea sets.

The interior of the cup is richly gilded.  The gilding is in exceptional condition.

Blue underglaze factory mark in the form of  Nicholas I cipher.

The saucer has some minor glaze hairlines on back.
