A Very Rare Antique Russian Ruby and Diamond Cluster Gold Bracelet56
zolotniks gold Imperial standard (14K - 583), the central prong-set
antique cushion cut natural ruby (approximately 2.1 ct) surrounded by
16 antique cushion cut diamonds (approximately 1.25 ct total weight)
St. Petersburg, circa 1890
length 7 3/4 in. (19,6 cm)
Russian
pre-1917 Imperial era jeweled gold pieces are rare in general. Old
Russian jewelry with stones like this 2 ct ruby, is a great rarity.
Unlike American and Western European jewelry from the same
period, very little Russian jewels have survived to these days.
Always being clearly hallmarked, easily dated and attributed
(hallmarking was mandatory in Russia), Russian Imperial era
jewelry was largely produced by hand. It is mostly of good quality.
Considering its rarity, overall quality, and growing demand, antique
Russian jewelry represents a great investment potential.
