An antique Russian porcelain dinner plate from His Highness Own Service (Sobstvenny) of Tsarevich Alexander Alexandrovich (later Czar Alexander III).
Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, Russia, circa 1870.
Diameter 9 7/8 in. (25 cm)
The border is decorated with a monogram 'AA' beneath Russian Imperial crown.
Green and blue factory marks in the form of the cipher of Alexander II. The blue mark was primarily reserved for important pieces.
Gilder's initials Cyrillic 'VT' in gold near the foot rim.
The plate was probably sold to the West by the Soviet state in the 1930s. The yellowish label is almost certainly from that period.
Two later auction house labels.
Condition: two hairline cracks (one in the field, another on the border), excellent gilding.
