Imperial Presentation silver pocket watch, circa 1900, with enameled cipher of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich (1850-1908) on lid.

Grand Duke Alexei, son of czar Alexander II and uncle of Nicholas II, was General Admiral and Commander of the Russian Navy.

Diameter 2 1/8 in. (5,5 cm)

Red guilloche enamel letter 'A' in Old Cyrillic script  interlaces with champleve enamel blue anchor.

The cipher 'A' stands for Grand Duke Alexei. It is very similar in design to cipher of his older brother czar Alexander III.

 

The Imperial crown with contrasting red guilloche and three-color champleve enamels.

All original enamel. No restoration. Some minor scratches from pocket wear.

      

 

The movement is by Moser & Co  (Swiss)

The silver case is by P.J. & Co  (Swiss)

The case is stamped with 84 Russian and 0.875 Swiss silver standards.

The movement's cover is engraved in Russian  with the name of supplier

'P.G. Zelentsov'
