Superb 17th century style gilded silver and shaded cloisonne enamel applique, Moscow, circa 1900, unmarked, elaborately decorated with two stylized birds and floral designs, set with two cabochon garnets and a cabochon amethyst. Wire attachments on the back indicates that the applique was once mounted, probably on a folio. Weight 6,3 oz. (178 g). Height 5 5/8 in. (14,5 cm). Length 9 1/4 in. (23,4 cm). Condition: excellent.

Although the applique is not marked, it is without doubt the work of the most famous Russian enameler Feodor Ruckert.
