Fine and Rare Russian icon of the Kaluga Mother of God with gilded silver, cloisonne enamel and filigree oklad (riza), made in Moscow between 1899 and 1908 by prominent silversmith Semyon Galkin who specialized in enameled icons. 10 1/2 x 12 in. (26,4 x 31 cm). Condition: just a couple of tiny chips to enamel on the halo, otherwise excellent, no restorations.

Marked with master's initials Cyrillic 'SG' and 84 silver standard with assayer's initials of Ivan Lebedkin
The filigree silver robe is struck with 84 standard, assaymark and workmaster's initials.
Each corner applique with workmaster's initials and assayer's stamp.
