Elegant and Rare Early Platinum Shawl Brooch by Imperial Court Jeweler Karl Bock

in its original burgundy leather case.

Diamond and sapphire brooch in the Garland style, St. Petersburg, circa 1910, set in platinum and yellow gold.

Both case and brooch are in excellent condition.

The case is stamped with the Imperial warrant (double headed eagle), K.BOCK  ST. PETERSBURG (in Russian).

 

 

Marked on pin with maker's initials Cyrillic 'KB'.

Karl Bock received the title of the Court jeweler in 1901.

There are no assay marks. Since platinum was rarely used for jewelry, there were no assay marks for platinum in the Russian Empire. Very few jewelers made objects in platinum in Russia at that time.
