Porcelain plate from the Kremlin Service, the Imperial Porcelain Factory, period of Alexander II (1855-1881), diameter 23,8 cm (9 3/8 in.), painted in colored enamels with a medieval floral rosette and stylized pine trees on richly gilded grounds. Excellent condition.
The service was designed for the newly built Great Kremlin Palace. The Imperial Porcelain Factory decorated the service after the sketches of ancient Russian enamel ornamentation of jewelry articles from the Kremlin Armoury made by Professor Feodor Solntsev.
