Russian Imperial Presentation Porcelain Easter Egg c.1890

Imperial Presentation Porcelain Easter Egg, circa 1890, the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, covered with dark red and lilac glaze known as sang de boeuf (ox blood) with a slip creating pale blue highlights, decorated with the gilded cipher of Empress Maria Feodorovna (mother of Nicholas II). The matte gold cipher 'MF' is partially polished and etched for extra texture. Height 4 in. (10 cm). Excellent condition.
