Museum quality silver Stopa (Large Beaker), circa 1680, probably Moscow. The matted body is decorated with three contrasting, polished, and gilded triangular reserves. The reserves are finely engraved with floral designs and small faces (of a man and of two beasts). The rim band is engraved with four Cyrillic letters, perhaps, an abbreviation.
Height 6 3/8 in. (16,2 cm). Diameter 4 1/4 in. (10,7 cm). Weight 7 oz. (198 g).
Russian 17th century silver objects are very rare, especially of such size.
